Welcome to the Food for All Blog

Welcome to Farm Connect Montana’s Food for All blog!

This project was born out of a desire to engage with our local friends and farmers, as well as share stories about the food system within which we all live and grow. Our hope is that, through increasing awareness of the importance of local food, we can inspire both individual and collective action toward an equitable and resilient food future.

To us, food, and especially local food, is a unifying force for the common good. After all, everybody eats! Eating local not only supports farmers and strengthens local economies, but it also improves health outcomes and builds connections across communities.

Through the Food for All project, we’ll explore why local food matters on all levels: health, environment, economic, and community. We’ll hear from experts across the state, highlight programs like Double Snap Dollars (DSD) and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP), and feature partner organizations, farmers markets, and local producers across the state.

At Farm Connect, Food for All means creating a food system where everyone, regardless of age, income, location, or circumstance, has access to healthy, nourishing food and the opportunity to participate in and benefit from Montana’s local food system. As Bridget, our Food Access Program Coordinator, puts it, “Food for All is about creating a food system where everyone can participate and benefit and where healthy food is not a privilege, but something available to all.”

We’re excited to share these stories, ideas, and conversations with you.

Stay tuned!
